Letter from Rusty

Since this blog is in lieu of a scrapbook I like to post things that I find related to both girls adoptions. I was cleaning out my documents and found a couple paragraphs Rusty wrote when we were applying for an adoption grant from Shaohanah's Hope (which we did receive). The question was asked on the form what we feel to be the most important thing we can impart to our child upon adoption. Here is Rusty's response:

As for what Leslie and I believe to be the most important things we can impart to our girls, we feel that we can offer them a home and a place of belonging. We believe strongly that we can give them a Godly sense of value and worth that they might not receive in their Chinese environment. We believe we can meet their material needs to the best of our ability. But ultimately, the most important thing that we can offer is a Christian environment where they will have a chance to learn about the love and grace of Jesus Christ and have opportunity to make Him their Lord.

Our greatest desires for Laurie Alice and Gracie are that they will choose to serve the Lord and that in the grace and freedom of the Spirit they will find their divine gifts and callings. We want to see them excel in life. We pray that they will be wildly successful in whatever they put their hands to, but ultimately we would love to see them excel in charity and compassion for others.
